  Thank you…

This is always the hardest part for me because I am afraid I will leave someone out. It takes so many people to get a book ready to be published and I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people that have helped me. I thank each one of them.

My husband, Charles, is my greatest supporter. He pushes me and lifts me up, so I can do this crazy writing thing. He has sacrificed our time to give me writing time. He takes time away from his career to be with me at all my signings but when we get there he stays in the background. He is my rock and makes this crazy life worth living. I love you, Babe.

My PA, Nicole Lloyd, is the kindest woman I know. She gives me honest feedback and while I am writing she is busy getting my name out there. There is nothing she won’t tackle in the crazy social media world. This lady is invaluable, and I am lucky enough to call her friend. Her husband Levi is awesome too.

Darlene Tallman and Liberty Parker, I do not have the words to thank these two ladies. They support me and always make time for any questions I have. They will drop their work to help me out of a jam and that people is friendship. True friendship. I will do the same for them. Darlene is the best editor and Liberty is the best formatter.

Nikki Horn, I do not know where to start. She introduced me to book trailers and she is the best at what she does. I was going in without any knowledge and she walked me through it and now I can’t remember her not being my friend. Have I said this lady keeps me laughing? Well, she does, and I can’t wait to meet her.

Tracie Douglas @ Dark Water Covers has the best covers. Her work is excellent, and she is only a message away and always eager to help. She always knows my visions of covers before I do. Is that even possible? With her it is. She has a skillful eye for color and what works. I am lucky to call her friend.

Daverba Ortiz has become a friend that I look forward to talking with and she is one of the best pimpers out there. She always has a way of making me want to keep writing my books. Her support is heartfelt, and she makes me feel that down in my bones.

Joanna Dearman - without this lady always supporting me and critiquing my work, my books would not be finished on time. I love my friend across the ocean.

Vera’s Teasers, just wow! Every one of you are in my heart, because I know I can come to this group with anything I need or with any question. Your support means the world to me. I trust your opinions and thank you for all the laughs and sharing of your life with me.

All the readers that have taken a chance on reading my books a special thank you! If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have a reason to w
rite my books. Thank you for each piece of feedback that you have given me it helps me grow as a writer and I hope you like the results.

To all the bloggers, groups, and pages that share my work a big huge thank you! Without the sharing, my books wouldn’t get out there to all the readers. You are an important part of the process of publishing my work.

To all the other authors who have touched my life, thank you. Some of you have never had a conversation with me but if I read your book you have inspired me to be the writer I am today. Inspiration doesn’t come that easy these days. I am an avid reader even when I am writing, and I am always looking for my next great read.

  Chapter 1

  Maddie

I knew three years ago when I met Dra he would change my life forever. My life had already changed so much, but I knew he would be an impact. Did I know we would have a one-night stand that Dra would regret in the light of day? No. Did I know his bad boy looks with all his glorious tattoos and his dark brooding ways would make me go weak in the knees and forget everything my Mom and Aunt Deb ever taught me about men? No. Did I know the night I lost my virginity would also be the night that my beautiful baby girl would be conceived? No. Did I know my heart would be forever lost to a man that was still in love with my sister? No. Would I change any of it? No. If I did then I wouldn’t have my precious daughter, Betsy, my little princess B. Would I have told Dra as soon as I found out I was pregnant? I don’t know. I don’t know if it would change a damn thing. I don’t know if Dra wouldn’t blame me for getting pregnant. What I do know is I am on the run now with my daughter from a man that hates me. I snuck away in the middle of the night like a thief stealing something without a word to any of the people who care about me. How do I justify it? I can’t. I just know I will not let anyone take my daughter from me even if I must leave everyone and everything in my life that I love.

I couldn’t stay and face the wrath that Dra has saved just for me. He was speechless when he laid eye on B. Somehow, he just knew that she was his. Could be because she looks just like her daddy, not that she knows that. She’s too young to know anything, or I hope she is.

I don’t know who was more shocked last night when I opened Callie’s front door and there Dra stood. No phone call beforehand. Just a knock on the door and there he is with his new ol’ lady. Yes, he brought Sunshine to meet his ex-wife, my sister Callie. Who does that? Brings a new ol’ lady to meet his previous ol’ lady? Damn, that’s a mouthful. Does it even make sense? I feel like my whole family is one more relationship away from being in a starring role on one of those daytime shows with the title ‘Who is the daddy uncle or in this case aunt mama?’ Good gosh almighty. This is the point when my mom and aunt Deb would say it is time to put on my big girl boots and wade in the shit storm I have made and start shoveling. I knew three years ago when I met Dra he would change my life forever. My life as I knew and loved it.

  Chapter 2

  Dra

“Where the hell is my daughter, Callie? Do not even try to keep her from me! Do you fucking hate me this much? We are talking about my blood and not even you are going to keep my daughter from me.” I am in Callie’s face and I know this is going to end badly but I can’t stop myself. I have had a daughter I did not know about for over two years. I don’t even know exactly how old my daughter is. I just know she is the spitting image of me. The minute I laid eyes on that beautiful child I knew she was mine and I saw red. I wanted to kill that bitch of a mother of hers. How could Maddie keep my daughter from me just because I wouldn’t let myself have the woman who has been haunting my dreams for two years? Callie is not one to back down even to the anger I am showing her. She puts her palm in the middle of my chest and pushes me back, so I am not so close to her. We are standing in her doorway and I thought Devil would be down here by now since I am yelling at the top of my lungs. I want Maddie to know how mad I am. This is a side of me I have never let her see.

“I told you that Maddie and B were gone when I got up this morning. I have texted her and tried to call her, but she has not responded. Now could you please keep your voice down before you wake up my children? This has nothing to do with me and you this only has to do with Maddie, B, and you. You tossed Maddie out like yesterday’s garbage, but she is not a vindictive person. She thinks she is protecting B and you need to own your part in this situation instead of blowing up at Maddie. Just give her time to think this out and she will come back.” Callie is trying to reason with me but there is no reasoning with me right now.

“I know you are hiding Maddie and Betsy from me the same way you have for the last couple of years. What have I ever done to you to make you hate me Callie? I loved you. Why would you keep my daughter from me? Is this revenge for letting you think I was dead? I thought that was water under the bridge. You got your happily ever after without me. Didn’t that satisfy you? I know I screwed up.” The words are out of my mouth before I know what I am saying but before I can say anything else the door is pulled open and Devil is there in my face and he pushes me further out of the house.

“What the hell are you doing at my house at six in the morning yelling this shit out where my children can hear it? Get on your damn bike and get off Feral Steel property before I put you in the ground and be sure and do not come back. You have worn out your welcome. Are you feeling me asshole?” Devil looks around at Callie. “Go in the house babe. I got this.” Callie turns and leaves. “Get this asshole and get it straight, Callie thought you knew about B and you didn’t want anything to do with her.”

“Why would Callie believe something like that of me? Callie knows me. She knows how I feel about family,” I tell Devil and jerk away from him.

“Does she? She didn’t think you would sleep with her virgin sister and make her feel like shit either, but you did. Callie also thought you loved her, but we see how that worked out to my advantage. Now I’ll let you in on a little more, my woman was in my bed under me so if Maddie left it wasn’t with help from Callie.” Devil has a smirk on his face like he thinks that his sharing Callie was in his bed will rub salt in my wounds. I have news for him, that ship sailed long ago. The night I spent a night in bed with Maddie. She is the woman that haunts me now. “Now get the hell gone and don’t come back and Dra, if I ever hear you speak to my ol’ lady with any hate in your voice again, I will put you to ground without warning.” Devil turns and goes back in the house and shuts and locks the door. Damn, now what? Now what, I’ll tell you what. I am going to go and find my daughter and her mom. Then I am going to blister Maddie’s ass red.

  Chapter 3

  9 months later

  Maddie

  It has been nine long
s months of being on the road with B. We have spent a few months in a couple of places but always in motels and B is just getting too big for it. She wants to play. She needs friends and interactions with other children her age. She will be turning two soon and I have made the last long trip in this SUV that I am making for a while. We traveled over twelve hundred miles in three days and today I am finding us a more permanent place to live. In the last nine months we have been from Oklahoma to Alabama to Florida and then up to New York. From New York we traveled to Utah and now back to Texas. My last contact with Aunt Deb was when we were in New York. With the help of an unknowing attorney Aunt Deb has me an account set up. Now I don’t need to pinch pennies anymore. I have full access to not only money my mother left me, but the money Diamondback left me also. Not too many people know about this money. I was determined to never touch either, but I don’t have much of a choice now. I have my part of what the ranch makes but if that is moved or touched then it can be traced, and I cannot take that chance.
